Former Call Her Daddy co-host Sofia Franklyn has made waves online after revealing in an interview that she has asked three men she recently dated for their bank account details on the first date.

In the clip, taken from her Sofia with an F podcast, Franklyn is chatting with Leo Skepi and says, “I’m not joking, I have asked the last three dudes I’ve dated for their bank account info on the first date.” Skepi responds with, “I don’t judge people’s actions, I look at the intention behind it, so why do you ask for that?”


Franklyn’s response is pretty simple: “Because I only want to date a wealthy guy.” She follows that up with, “I have a job, I’m very successful, so I think I have every right to be like, ‘Are we on the same level, or am I wasting my time?’”


Franklyn posted the clip to TikTok with the caption, “I think I’m just being efficient?” And true, it is fairly efficient — she knows that wealth is something she values, and by broaching the subject on the first date, both she and her date can decide whether or not further dates would be a waste of time.


Many people were critical of Franklyn’s methods, however, decrying her for being a gold digger considering she isn’t even particularly rich herself — the notoriously unreliable site Celebrity Net Worth estimates that she’s worth around $500,000.


Others were less harsh, arguing that at least she was being upfront about her expectations and not stringing men along while making them pay for increasingly expensive dates.



Franklyn, for her part, appears to be taking the backlash in good humor, responding to a Dexerto tweet about the furor with, “I’m a demon lord.” Franklyn was most recently in a relationship with former HBO Sports executive Peter Nelson, although since his identity was revealed during Franklyn’s departure from Call Her Daddy, Franklyn hasn’t clarified whether the couple are still together or not.


Income disparity within relationships can be a significant source of stress — research has shown that men are happier when both partners contribute financially, but only if their female partner earns less than them. Once she starts earning the same or more than her male partner, men’s stress levels increase sharply. So if Franklyn really wanted to die on this hill, she could argue that she’s simply concerned for her potential partner’s stress levels.
